That’s because you have enough information. Most watching do not; and they are not the ones who decide to fund it. If people could directly choose in a transparent way what to do with their taxes, do you think most would actively and authentically choose to fund it?

Yes, it’s fun to root for countries like Iran and Ghana against the more established teams in Europe and South America. MSM is just focusing on criticizing Qatar because they’re oriental or whatever and wouldn’t do the same to any other host. Qatar sucks, but it’s no worse than most countries that have hosted the WC. Fascist Italy hosted, Chile and Mexico were killing leftists when they hosted, do I even have to start with the US or Canada? In general, I watch the very last couple of games because that’s usually when lots of people around me are excited about it and watching it.
