  • On desktop, Firefox + Arkenfox user.js + uBlock Origin, Smart Referer, and Skip Redirect (I have other extension, too, but those are my core “must-haves”). I use this configuration for privacy and security reasons, but also because it’s fast and stable for me. I do use Tor Browser sometimes too.

On mobile, unfortunately, I use Brave. Only because Firefox mobile doesn’t have site isolation or enable isolatedProcess yet. Brave is fine, but it’s Chromium-based, crashes frequently, and I don’t love Brave as a company. It does have some great privacy features, though, and it gets the job done.

I also use Fennec for PWAs on Android. I only use it for PWAs and not for general browsing. I do this so that I can have Brave set to automatically clear all browsing data and not have to log in over and over on my PWAs. I just use it for Calckey and Lemmy, really.

  • I am something of a hobby collector, but to keep it simple, there is one I will always recommend to almost anyone: Music!

There are so many ways to get into it. You can learn an instrument, you can learn about synthesizers, you can learn to sing, you can learn music production, you can DJ, you can learn songwriting, lyricism, or arrangement. There’s just so many ways to get creative with sound, everything you need to learn is available for free online, and you can usually find cheap equipment on Craigslist, or at pawn shops/thrift stores/garage sales, or at your local music store to get you started.

These days, you can even build a little home studio and produce professional sounding music for only a few hundred bucks, and so much of the software you need is free–in fact, a lot of it is even open source. I have been contributing to a massive list of great free and open source software, and there is a ton of audio software on here for all kinds of musicians/sound engineers: https://codeberg.org/ADHDefy/delightful-creative-tools#user-content-audio

There’s also “A Free Studio” which recommends tons of free (mostly not open source) audio software: https://afreestudio.com

Seriously, though, music is difficult to master but much easier to learn than most would think. If you’ve ever had a passing interest, check it out!
