I’ve largely moved on from gaming, but some of the things that turned me off were the focus on hyper-realistic graphics, requiring unobtainium / expensive graphics cards, and focusing more on visuals than story.

Optimizing games so they’re not rendering content when the game is paused or reducing quality at certain points is nice and all, but do we really need all these hyper-realistic games?

As I said, I don’t have much of a horse in this race these days, but if games didn’t require expensive (to own and operate) graphics cards and focused more on gameplay mechanics and story (e.g. Portal), I’d probably consider getting back into gaming.

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with the article (just thought it was worth sharing), but I do think any geoengineering efforts need to be done carefully (if at all). There’s too many moving, interconnected parts we don’t fully understand, and blocking the sun is just treating the symptoms. I’m mostly afraid measures like this, and carbon capture, are just going to be excuses to keep polluting and not treat the root cause.

That said, not doing anything will probably be worse, so I really don’t know where I stand on the issue of geoengineering efforts.

A while back, I had asked my UPS vendor at work what he thought, and he wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about them. Mostly said the batteries couldn’t be recycled, yadda yadda. I’m taking his opinion with a grain of salt since the most frequent thing he does on our maintenance contract is replace the lead-acid batteries in our big, central UPS. With the lithium battery models being rated for 5-10 years, I’m guessing there might be some conflict of interest at play lol.

I bought those 6 months ago, so I can’t say they’re “for life” but I really like them, and they’ve held up well so far. Looks like the ivory colored ones are the only ones listed now, but the ones I got were black / black case.

I won’t ever spend more than $60 on a set of headphones because they either get lost/broken/etc.

What vegan cheese would you recommend? I’m only 90% vegetarian, not vegan, but I’m lactose intolerant so have to buy non-dairy cheese. Many of my dishes end up being vegan because of that.

I used to use Daiya, but unless it’s fully melted, the texture is all weird (and it’s kind of glue-y). Then I switched to the Simple Truth (not sure if store brand or big brand) and it’s been much better.

As a cheese lover who cannot eat it, I’m always on the lookout for the next next best thing.
