The way reddit shows ads is not bad. On mastodon it could be decided in the settings: how many ads you allow us to show? One every 20 posts? Every 50? Every 100? That’s nice for those who want to pay for the instance in some way

Apps should solve this problem: apps currently let you join more than one instance but they don’t let you choose which account to reply from.
