  • Ahh, looked at it and you’re right. They have an “Enterprise” version which seems like it’s security conscious.

Still, I stand by my original assertion. I have worked for FAANG companies with completely locked down security that allowed us to use Slack. I would be extremely surprised if their contract with Slack didn’t ensure complete data privacy.

We’re talking about companies where a product leak makes international news. There is zero chance Slack employees have access to communications.

  • That sounds a lot like what I understood how etrade platforms like Robinhood work when I was reading up on the GME shorts fiasco.

I definitely only have a surface level understanding of it, but it sounded like the stock brokers have a buffer in-between the transaction request to buy/sell, and they first try to handle that locally within their portfolio, before expanding to external trades. And if there’s a favorable internal trade, brokers like Robinhood siphon out a little something something for themselves.

Sounds like people are getting busted for doing essentially the same thing Wallstreet has been doing for decades. Again.

  • That sounds great, but I don’t understand how they can do that if the debt isn’t to the US government.

The way I understand it, is you owe the hospital money, and after you default, they sell your debt to debt collectors for pennies on the dollar, and then the collectors “own” your debt and harass you and ruin your credit score until you pay.

How does the government have any say on clearing that debt? With the student loan forgiveness, the debt was owned by the federal government, so they can choose to forgive it.

  • This is why we, the voters, need to react to blatant corruption and fascism by voting the offending party out of office. If the dems get a super majority, they can actually oust the corrupt politicians and judges, oust the Trump appointees still causing havoc.

That’s how our democracy is supposed to work. If there’s rot within, all parties are supposed to band together and cauterize the rot. But the Republicans are entirely taken over at this point, so voters need to rip them from their seats until we have enough dems (or aligned independents, though that’s not really plausible) to have a super majority so they actually have the authority to do what needs to be done.

Voting matters. Enough of this bullshit “both sides”. One side isn’t perfect, but the other side are literal fascists trying to establish a dictatorship.
